This piece emerged out of the memory of a dance I had seen. I'm not sure why the image has such appeal to me, but I suspect it's because the figure is in the process of transformation.

Most of western culture doesn't believe in transformation. There's too much magic in it. But I believe those cultures that do believe in magic see some part of reality and perhaps are taken by some kind of transformation that leaves the rest of us behind.
